Welcome to the website of Susan Spencer hayter, a Wimbledon based, environmental artist.
Paintings and prints combine a passion for the natural environment with artistic concerns , exploring the boundaries between Science and Art.
From traditional oils on gessoed and gilded panels to etchings, mezzotints and drypoints, the work reveals a love for materials and historical processes.
Having previously worked as a biologist and in education, recent work has arisen following research at the Natural History Museum, into a group of marine echinoderms called crinoids, better known as sea lilies, with a plant-like structure, inhabiting oceans world-wide for over 500 million years.
